Disk Doctors Data Sanitizer work not only by unlinking a file but also specifically overwriting them with garbage data. For very high security installations, overwiting the file several times is advised. Many government institutions have specific disk wiping standards for file deletion. Particularly, the U.S. DoD specification 5220.22 standard says a file must be overwritten three times.
Disk Wiping Overview
Disk wiping is beneficial for privacy, because files are not completely deleted using operating system's default delete function. In most of the file systems, delete function consists of marking the space occupied by the file as free and updating file system allocation structures, leaving actual file contents intact on the storage media.
If there is continous read and write operations on the drive after deletion, eventually this space will be assigned to other files and would be overwritten. However, if the there hasn't been much of read and write operations since the file was deleted, data recovery software or disk forensic tools have a good chances of retrieving deleted data in chunks or in whole by accessing the disk drive.
So normal 'delete' command or deleting data from the recycle - bin is not a safe method for data removal.

Crashed Hard Drive Recovery
Hard drive can crash due to a number of reasons which can be broadly classified into two groups, physical failure and logical failure. Regardless the cause for hard drive crash, it does not mean the end of your crucial data, the data is still recoverable.
Symptoms of hard disk crash
1. Computer will not boot
2. Error messages like "No Fixed Disk Present" or "DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER"
3. Blue or black screen after power up (commonly referred as Blue Screen of Death)
4. Clicking/ticking/humming/grinding and crunching noises coming from the drive
5. System often reboots, restarts, hangs or freezes
6. "Drive not formatted" and “Operating system not found”, messages
When you experience any of the above symptoms with your computer the first thing you should do is determine whether the problem is with the hard drive mechanical components or is it a logical failure.

Crashed Hard Drives Data Recovery Big Business
Over my 20 years of computer repair, it is safe to say that I have had to replace 1 defective hard drive a week. That's 52 a year, so that's 1000 hard drives give or take. It is also safe to say that 20% of those crashed hard drives did not even phase the customer. Maybe 60% just considered it a hassle. But that leaves another 20% that were almost in tears because they filled it with family photos or work documents with out any form of data backup.
The purpose of this article is to cover a few backup options along with the cost associated with it. You will be surprised at the worst case scenario.
I'm willing to bet that every one smart enough to find this article has a CD burner on there computer. Right there you have no excuse for not backing up your files, but it is time consuming. The CDs need to organized to some extent and they are susceptible to scratches, nicks and heat. So while it is an option, it is not to practical.
Personally I pay about $9 a month for web hosting. With this I can simply set up a folder that is password protected on the server. Then every few days I connect to it and upload my whole drive by dragging and dropping. Take a FTP program of your choice and tell it to copy only the newer files and it's just that easy. What's that? $108 a year? Even then my hosting company backs up my backup while I can tend to the various blogs and sites I maintain.

Various Backup Types For Your Laptop
Backup became a necessity nowadays, especially for laptops users. What are the various types of backup?
Here a list of various backup types :
Full backup :
A full backup contains every data on a system, that are selected to be backed up, whether that file has changed or not. Because the full backup stores all files and folders, it takes longer to accomplish and requires more storage space, but they are the most comprehensive, and also provide the quickest restore times.
Pros :
1. quickest restore times
2. most comprehensive
Cons :
1.takes longer to accomplish
2.requires more storage space
Alternatives to a full backup are differential backup, incremental backup and mirror backup:
Differential backup and incremental backup :
Incremental backup contains all files that have changed since the last full, differential or incremental backup.
Differential backup back up all the files that have changed since the last full backup, it is faster than incremental backup but quickly takes more space than it.
Incremental backup
Pros :
1.fastest backup
2.The least storage space requirements
Cons :
1.the longest time to restore
Differential backup
Pros :
1.faster than a full backup
2.Restore is faster than incremental backup
Cons :
1.Higher storage space than for incremental backup
Mirror backup
Identical to a full backup excepted that the files are not compressed, and can not be password protected.
Pros :
1.The fastest backup type
2.It makes a snapshot of selected files and folders in a destination that you can browse and access later.
Cons :
1.the most storage space consuming backup type
2.No password protection
So each solution depends on your time and your needs, but they all are easy to set up.

Unless You Backup Your Laptop Data
He directly contacted a data recovery company, and has to decide to make deal with the first arrival. This guy entrusted its hard disk to this company and they ensured to him that its data would be recovered, for 1500$ only...
The agreed day it comes to recover its hard disk and it is announced to him that recovery failed, it was analyzed by a specialist but for an unknown reason, that failed.
it found another specialist and this one announces to him that the analysis of its disc was not made in clean room(remember hard disks are extremely fragile and sensitive to any kind of dust, air, or environmental contamination).
Its disc was contaminated and that produced a head crash which irremediably destroyed the magnetic coating which contained the data.
Its disc was definitively lost, terrifying not? That could have arrived to you too, are you ready? Are you protected?
There are many companies that offer data recovery services, but this story shows that only the reputed companies can boast of effective data recovery.

Data Recovery Windows 7 Steps
In our computerized world, there are a lot of horror stories out in our world when it comes to retrieving this data. In lots of situations, when there is lost data because of hard drive issues, it is almost critical to not run the drive. Are there many people using software to recover data? Many people who have used software to recover the data and because it can be a long process with the program, more damage can occur. In order to prevent this, here are some steps on how to perform a windows data recovery.
What are the 7 steps? They are:
1) Shut down the computer, and then find another computer that is running Windows 2000 or XP. Then download your computer recovery software onto the second computer, and go back to the computer you were on and remove the hard drive from it. But before that it is a good idea to make an image of your whole drive with a disk imaging software. Do these before you decide to start work on the drive. There are chances your drive may not ever work on your computer again. The procedure that you are about to learn will help prevent you leaving being important data without knowing it. Inadequate software can be the cause of what is called “feather”damage to your drive. Then after that take the hard drive and install it on the second computer as a data drive.
2) Laptop computer hard drive can be connected to your desktop computer with an adapter. If you want to have cheap data recovery because your recovery software doesn’t work with USB, but you are capable of using IDE, you only need a 44 to 40 pin IDE adapter. These is just affordable, it only cost you around ten to twenty dollars. It’s available at most leading stores that carry supplies for computers. Make it sure that your windows program does not use the “check disk” utility to repair the drive.
3) Use the data recovery program to run your windows data recovery on the second computer you are using. Immediately shut down your computer if you are only using one computer. With the second step of your windows data recovery, you are still going to remove the hard drive of this computer.
4) And then install a new drive, reinstall windows and use your recovery software on it, just take safety precautions, because many people used software to recover data but because, it takes you time to process the program, more damage can occur, just be careful with this. When the drive becomes more damaged, it can make the recovery process almost impossible. The recovery software does serve its purposes when you can afford to bring your drive to a professional recovery service.
5) Then use your recovery software to recover the data to your new hard drive. But Make it sure that the windows “check disk” utility program does not try to repair the drive when it is booted.
6) Make sure that you recover your data completely, If you want your windows data recovery run smoothly as possible, make it sure that you protect your file.
7) In order to protect your file, once you have installed and downloaded the recovery program onto your computer, you can use it to search for files that you can’t find and recover them to another drive that is on your computer.
